Love beyond Love; J. Vijayalakshmi

The book is a collection of beautifully written poems. The themes of the poems are varied, mind, relationships, time, education system, life and death, heart break, spirituality and many more. But what I found was the main feature of the book was feminism. Be it the names of the God's, or the rivers, or the crime prevailing in the society, it is all relevant to the female.. It was a pleasent surprise to find the writer herself in some of the poems.

If I cringed when I read about the harsh realities of life and, the cruelty prevailing in the society in some of the poems. I smiled when I found a tinge of humor and blushed when I came across some romance. I felt the writer is a hard core feminist. I wish the writer had shown some mercy to the male lot and not just to the character called husband.

It is obvious that the writer's thoughts are deep. So much so I had to read some of them twice to understand them better. The poems took me deep into myself, I traveled away into the cosmos, came across a unique wish list, learnt about generation Z, and many others. But still I felt that some of my beliefs and thoughts differed from the Writer's or it could also be that I must have failed to understand what she really was trying to convey, in fact there were some that I didn't understand. After all Poetry is not everyone's cup of tea. But ultimately the book kept me happy.
